I can't find anyone reputable claiming anything remotely close to your claim that Wyze is sending all data back to a Chinese mothership, then or now.How to arm your SimpliSafe system at night Also if I recall there was a data breach some time ago (2019?) and instances of devices talking to Chinese IP addresses. This isn't relevant to the discussion of why many SS cameras can't manage to keep a stable, constant WiFi connection using a network standard created 20 years ago. Of course many (probably most) of them work well or well enough but that doesn't mean that there aren't still real issues with a significant amount of their hardware that have gone unaddressed.Īnd if you want to use Wyze cameras and have your data sent to the Chinese mothership then knock yourself out. I don't think anyone has ever said that none of the cameras work. If none of the cameras worked then SS wouldn't have a market for these devices, right? ![]() Both statements ("I have problems" and "I don't have problems") can be correct. My assertions are only a) many people have issues with SimpliSafe hardware as evidenced by posts here and on their website and b) one person (or even several people) reporting, "I don't have any problems!" doesn't prove or even suggest that a) is wrong. I appreciate you engaging in this conversation and I'm sorry if I came across as aggressive. When the outdoor cameras launched, some people swore up and down they worked perfectly w/o issues while many many of us were reporting half a dozen issues, some of which still persist today. One of MY biggest complaints about SS hardware is how WILDLY inconsistent it is. I had similar issues with my old non-mesh router and my SS cameras which sat about 12 feet from the doorbell.Įdit: Strangely none of the Wyze Cam v3s I have inside and outside my house have any WIFI issues despite being much much further from the pucks in many instances. The doorbell still frequently drops connections, has recordings cut off early, etc. The puck closest to the doorbell is literally 4 feet away from it and my house is wood and drywall. (And I am not alone in this experience if you read the sub and the official forums.) I have 3x Google WiFi pucks, all using ethernet backhaul and I have plenty of internet bandwidth. I haven't had any wireless issues with any other devices EXCEPT the SS cameras. ![]()
